Team ReSNetSLT are delighted to share the news about the launch of this exciting new networking opportunity for all SLTs/SLPs across Europe.
This initiative is being led by Maren Eikerling who is a PhD student in Italy, and has already linked SLT research students in several countries, and across many clinical topics.
Read Maren’s message invitation for people to get in touch to find out more, and to let us know if you may be interested in this network.
Hello!
We are currently creating a Europe-wide network for Early Stage Researchers and PhD students in the field of Speech and Language Pathology/Therapy, the “SLPhD network“.
We would like to find out whether you want to join or establish the network along with us and what your interests and expectations are.
In order to do so, we prepared a quick online survey (this short survey should take no more than 5 minutes of your time).
Please fill it in at the following LINK before the end of October.
Please share this information with other people you know who might be interested.
And you can email Maren on mareneikerling@gmail.com with feedback and questions and join our mailing list slphd-net@googlegroups.com
Thank you!

What?
Grounded in the spirit of international and interdisciplinary collaborations and interesting international insights on what Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) looks like in other countries, grows the idea to establish a Europe-wide network for Early Stage Researchers/PhD students in the field of Speech and Language Pathology/Therapy, the SLPhD network.
Why?
There is a lot we can learn from each other in the various areas touching SLT, especially for us, the “offspring” pushing forward research in SLT.
In most of our countries, the community of SLPs in academia is rather small, so it makes sense to bundle our resources and exchange instead of working in parallel.
For our professional policy issues as well as for content and methods of our projects exchanging best practices and ideas can be very useful.
In many ways, we all are confronted with the same issues (often small and heterogeneous groups of participants, for example) and there is a lot to learn from each other.
How?
In a first step, we want to find out about how to push this project forward in concrete terms and how to get connected.
We have started holding virtual meet-ups via google meet and created a mailing list slphd-net@googlegroups.com.
Further ideas are using an online forum like slack (www.slack.com) to update each other on events, ask for feedback, arrange (virtual) meet-ups, peer-mentoring and so on.
Perhaps organizing summer schools, workshops and (virtual) journal clubs would be another idea for the future. All this might even be connected to some bigger conferences and events that many of us might want to attend.
These are just some first ideas and there is a lot of room for creativity and innovation!
We are glad about any suggestions and curious to find out how you like this idea.
