There are currently limited opportunities for Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) to be funded or employed in joint clinical and research or academic roles.

Following a Twitter chat in January 2018 between a group of like-minded SLTs, the group @ClinAcSLT (Clinical Academics in SLT) was formed.

The aim of this group is to promote the benefits of clinical-academic roles within the profession and to share advice and peer support for colleagues at all stages in their personal clinical-academic careers (pre, mid and post PhD).

In 2018, three of our #ResNetSLT Tweetchat Journal Club discussions focused on published evaluations of research roles in Allied Health – look back through our Archives to read our post-chat summaries.

ResNetSLT is delighted to support ClinAcSLT by posting relevant news and blog pieces about clinical-academic research careers on our website.
