BLOG: Supporting people in mental capacity assessments and advance care planning in the COVID-19 pandemic

Team ReSNetSLT is pleased to share the news of this UK national research study led by Dr Mark Jayes at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).

My name is Mark Jayes and I’m a researcher at Manchester Metropolitan University.

With my colleagues Associate Professor Arpita Bose (University of Reading) and Sophie Borrett (Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust), I’m conducting a project to investigate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the implementation of mental capacity legislation by speech and language therapists in the UK.

The project is being organised by Manchester Metropolitan University.

It has been granted full ethical approval by the Manchester Metropolitan University Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care Research Ethics and Governance Committee (EthOS reference number: 24511).

We wonder if you would be able to support us by sharing the project advert with your colleagues, who may wish to take part in this project? (right click on the image to download and save).

This provides an electronic link to the participant information sheet and the electronic survey.

The participation information sheet explains what participation will involve and will help people to make an informed decision about taking part.

We want to emphasise that participation is entirely voluntary and participants may withdraw at any time, without this affecting their work roles.

The survey link will be open until 16th November 2020.

You can access the link HERE.

Many thanks for considering this request. For more information, please contact me via email: m.jayes@mmu.ac.uk or by telephone: 0161 247 2885.

Best wishes
Mark
