BLOG: “ESLA” – sharing SLT research & best practice across Europe

Our monthly #ReSNetSLT tweetchat in February this year celebrated the annual European Day of Speech and Language Therapy awareness.

And we also featured news about the launch of ESLA – the new face of the SLT profession across Europe.

Follow the link HERE to see ESLA‘s Mission and Vision, and to read about how this organisation is building their strategic influencing work.

ESLA also have a dedicated YouTube channel, where you can view all the video recordings from the Board members and guest speakers at the launch event.

You may also want to keep an eye on ESLA‘s very active Social Media channels, including:

Twitter @ESLAEurope
Facebook @ESLA.eu

The latest news from ESLA is the announcement of the first in their FREE Professional Development Webinar series:

“Dysphagia and malnutrition in Covid and Post-Covid patients: clinical practice, research and education”

Keep watching the ESLA website and Social Media for details of the next webinar event coming up in July, again focused on highly topical and inter-professional perspectives on our professional work.

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapy RCSLT are one of the Founder Members of ESLA, and have actively supported this Europe-wide collaboration since the launch of the former organisation CPLOL in March 1988.

The RCSLT‘s ESLA Action Group co-hosted our #ReSNetSLT Webinar & Tweetchat event on 24th February 2021, and you can follow them on Twitter @UK_ESLA.

  • You can read the introduction to the chat HERE,
  • You can download the full transcript of our tweetchat HERE,
  • And you can watch the video recording of our concurrent Webinar event HERE.

The @UK_ESLA Twitter account launched in July 2020 and the following comments reflect the growing levels of activity since then:

We have had a HUGE increase in engagement on our Twitter channel – this started in January when we posted the Tweet advertising for our student members, which got 13.7K impressions.

When compared to the averages from the previous 6 months, the number of visits to our profile was up by nearly 1700%!!!

Engagement then increased further in February in the lead-up to the ResNet webinar on 24th February (the first tweet we posted advertising the webinar got 16.8K impressions alone), where we more than doubled the number of impressions we’d had in January, and the number of mentions we’d got (mainly due to the webinar, I assume) also increased by 374% compared to January.

The following selection of tweets from RCSLT members demonstrates how much they have valued engaging on a European level ….

On Euro SLT Day, obviously the main event was the ESLA webinar/launch, and we had quite a strong online presence for that as well.

Got some nice engagement from SLTs around Europe, with some responses/retweets to our multilingual Happy SLT Day tweet in Catalan and Hungarian! Similar tweets from UK SLTs who were happy to be engaging on a European level:
